Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Clean bright copy. Clean. San Diego, CA, 1st ed. 1935, private press for Frank E. Marcy, Originally published in 1855; Beautiful dark brw hardcover w a gilded spine type and a large rather 'stately' hen embossed in gold on the cover; edges have mild rubbing, sl off square, f.o. inscription written ornately on ffep; DJ brwn Nekoosa Draft paper, panels clean, w clear silhouette and type, edges worn & chipped badly, New Mylar cover; The original was written by George P. Burnham, a entrepreneur of the most ingenious kind, selling trumped up 'fancy fowls' and then publishing Hen Fever exposing the humbuggery. The reprint was published with the same intent, to expose the 'humbuggery' of another questionable event, declaring that "Hen Fever" may, in fact be the elder sister to the New Deal!
