1 Dept. of Agriculture Special Report No 22: Contagious Diseases of Domesticated Animals Continuation of Investigation
Washington Government Printing Office 1880 Hardcover Very Good+
Dark brown cloth, gilded spine title faded and rubbed, moisture stain line on the front cover. Ends soft, corners just bumped. Examination of contagious disease, primaily in cattle and pigs with some reference to horses, chickens and sheep and correlations with animals in Europe. However, of more interest (at least to this bookseller) is the article writen by M. Pasteur regarding his chicken cholera study which lead to the eventual development of vacines, quite a facinating paper (page 212-214). There are 3 colour plate sections w/tissue intact on each first plate, 13 plates in total. Two pull outs, one on transversal lung sections, and another a map of pleuro-pneumonia areas. Both in fine condition. Page 259 (only) has marginal insect damage. A great primairy source on agriculture and medical history. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 268 pp pages
