E Ridge fine Books
And hello, I am Sharon and my partner is Ken.  We are Ken and Sharon Heimann, the owners of E Ridge fine Books.
The Name

The Cleveland National Forest lies directly behind our home/store.  Nestled between the two mountain tops closest to us is a ledge called "E Ridge"- so named by the many local and visiting hang-gliders.  Known internationally for the strong thermal currents, it is a favored site for the sport and a landmark of community pride. Emblazoned on the side of one of the two mountain peaks is a giant 'E' for Lake Elsinore, our home town. Thus, E Ridge fine Books.

Our History

E Ridge fine Books opened as an on-line bookstore in 2006. I (Sharon) always wanted to have a bookstore. After 20 years of home schooling our four children, we had hundreds of books that needed new homes.  Selling them on-line was a logical first step towards my goal.

We have always enjoyed the book-people community. Browsing through used bookstores is still a favorite pass-time.  However, our personal experience with using the mega listing sites for on-line book buying was often a hit-or-miss experience.  We intend to offer a high standard of product and customer service and, although we cannot offer you coffee or tea, we can offer you a precise and detailed description of the book, and be as available as the virtual world will allow for questions.  Our philosophy is "Open the door to E Ridge fine Books and you open the door to quality, inside and out".

The Books:

E Ridge offer's general used and  out-of-print books with a growing collection of: Religion, Natural History, Arts & Crafts, Art and Art History, and Modern Firsts.

You will also find a collection of home school standbys: home school life, readers, the odd text book, topic material, and marriage and family.

About Grading

The descriptions below were taken from the IOBA website.  The complete glossary of book terms and grading scale may be found on the IOBA resource page found at

  • F= FINE. This is a book with no obvious faults.  It is not a perfect book, it may show minor signs of age or ownership in relationship to it's publication date but should be clean, square and tightly bound.  The dust jacket, if present, should be without loss or serious faults.  There is some room within this grade for age consideration.  Any faults should be described.
  • VG= Very good.  Overall, it describes a book in used condition.  One which show signs of having been read.  The book should be solid, that is to say the binding remains firm but may lay flat when opened. The dust jacket may show loss, tear, or wear.  All faults should be noted.
  • AS NEW= This book is new but it has 'sat' on the shelf. Is does not show signs of reading. It may have some dust soil, and the dust jacket may be scuffed.  Depending on the age of the book there may be some page tone.  All faults should be noted.

  • New= Just what it says.

We also use the "+" and "-" symbols to further describe a book's quality within its determined grade.  For example, you may see a "VG+"- which means that the book is in the best possible condition for its grade.
